Spread the Word With the Raising Millionaire Babies Library Project

What is Kristan Leatherman's Raising Millionaire Babies Project?

The Raising Millionaire Babies Project fulfills a need in the marketplace to jumpstart America’s efforts to teach our kids about money. The statistics tell the story - America is not doing a very good job of raising financially responsible kids. For a look at the latest statistics, see www.jumpstart.org.downloadable-resources.html  “Making the Case for Financial Literacy, 2010”.

What are the project’s goals?

We all know life is challenging. Many of us also know that life is even more challenging without knowing how to manage money wisely. The negative effects of money mismanagement can have a lifelong impact—overspending, mounting debt, collection calls, poor credit scores, repossession, and eventually bankruptcy.

It’s like financial triage every day.

And that’s not all. Friendships, marriages, and family ties can break down over the devastation of debt.

While we wish it were different, few of us are granted financial immunity.
And, while life has few guarantees, the Millionaire Babies Project is an initiative to protect our children from the negative experiences of using money unwisely.

It’s a way to “pay it forward” now, so that we and our children and grandchildren won’t have “to pay for it later”.

See www.payitforward.com to explore interesting ways to teach your children this important concept.

How can I get involved?

The Raising Millionaire Babies Project has two ways you can get involved:

  1. To talk about money and tell our money stories to each other, both successes and mistakes
  2. To make the Millionaire Babies or Bankrupt Brats? Love and Logic Solutions to Teaching Your Kids About Money, book available in every public library across America, you can donate this book to an American library of your choice.

Do you have a money story to share?

One of the most significant things you can "do" about money is to describe the impact money has had on you and your life.

Many of us have stories to share about family and friends that tell us we are struggling with this issue, as parents, grandparents and educators. But, we can learn from each other –both successes and failures.

To share your money story with others, go to: Share My Story
